amitraz demodex amitraz demodex::I purchased 1 bottle of mitaban dip, so that i can dip her myself.
Shes still iching, but not like she was.
Well im over here thinking that everything is under control.
Today i noticed they are on my other wrist.
To me it looks like scabies, which is sarcoptic mites in dogs.
My question is can both demodex and sarcoptic mites live on an animal?
I know that the dip for demodex mites wont kill the sarcoptic mites.
Any answers would be grealy appreciated thanks when i searched for images of scabies and found an illistration it looks very similar to what is on my wrist just not nearly as bad.
And this appeared before she was dipped.
Im worried that i will have to continue the dips for a while because it makes her all out of it for like 72 hours and shes very jumpy.
The vet found the demodex mites on friday thru a skin scrapping on her head, but if she did have sarcotic mites wouldnt that have shown up along with the demodex?
Unless they are else where and not on her head.
I hope we can beat this thing.
Thanks for the reply!
If i slightly scratch on them they start to heal.
I think its from her getting pee on herself when she goes to the bathroom.
Yes, both can live on a dog.
Here is a brief break down of each mite or mange type: first, you must do a skin scraping and look at it under the microscope to distinguish between the two types.
You can not tell just by looking at the lesions.
Usually easily treated with weekly dips with paramite dip.
It can also become quite expensive to treat.
Usually a dog with demodex does better if in a quiet environment and kept unstressed.
Most dogs fight off demodex with a healthy immune system.
Also most dogs outgrow this with age.
Good luck and i hope you both find relief soon!
Added on: here are some sites that might be useful for you to determine exactly what you may have.
Ht ml i also recall that i had a puppy with the little blisters you are describing on his belly and it turned out to be impetigo.
Here is a link to explain that and it sounds just like what your pup has on her belly.
